The Amsterdam Lake District
Where to find the Amsterdam Lake District?
Within an hour drive of the city center of Amsterdam you will find the Amsterdam Lake District. A water rich area in the north of the country, in the province of Friesland. It’s a beautiful rural area full of ditches, canals, ponds, lakes, rivers, mounds, meadows and drained land. And there is more; small villages, dikes, windmills, pumping stations, museums, boats, locks, mounds, historic cities, drawbridges, farms and so on. We call them “hidden treasures”, because they are authentic, it is peaceful and there is no mass tourism.
You will also find typical Dutch traditions, and treats, cultural heritage, traditional costumes and the most wonderful people, all with their own stories.
We are the specialist in the area for V.I.P. tours (maximum 8 people) and small group tours (maximum 19 people) which enable you to discover the area in a unique and exclusive way, at your own pace. We have local guides who take you for the day and local inhabitant guides who will meet you at several locations.
When you want to discover the Netherlands beyond Amsterdam and learn more about our country, we would love to welcome you. We offer several tours but you are always welcome to contact us for more information or a custom made tour, small or large, for you and your guests.
We hope to welcome you soon! Or as we say here “Oant sjen”.
