A very relaxing and interesting day My kids (ages 18 and 11) and I took this tour in April 2023. Overall it turned out a very interesting and relaxing day. We travelled in a small group in a van. We learned a lot about water management, saw dikes and the world’s largest working steam pumping station with a private tour by a retired engineer. We visited Friesland, a province in Holland including a city with a guided tour by a guide dressed in the traditional clothes and a stop by a house of traditional local painter where we saw him paint a tray. You could buy a souvenir there but with no pressure to buy one. For lunch we had traditional Dutch pancakes with a variety of toppings and coffee/tea and juice. Please note that the tour leaves from the front of This is Holland building, so from Central Station you have to take a free ferry across. It takes only 3 minutes or so and ferries leave very frequently (like every 5 minutes). I’d say this is not a tour for families with small children. The tour is about 8 1/2 hours. However, it’s good for people who want to see more of The Netherlands, especially the countryside. A very pleasant and relaxing experience. And you are back in Amsterdam by about 4 p.m. so there is still part of afternoon and evening left for other activities. We are glad we went on this tour.

Fabulous Tour! What a wonderful day with Amsterdam Lake District Tours! We were a very small group (only three of us!) and one of the first in 2022. I took this tour during peak tulip time to see the tulip fields and was not disappointed - we crossed the Afsluitdijk, saw two functioning windmills (a sawmill and flour mill), local small towns, had a lovely lunch, and drove on small country roads to see many local tulip growers. We were also able to see one of the forts of the defence line of Amsterdam and toured the Wouda Steam Pumping Station. Our guide provided us with lots of wonderful information and was friendly and enthusiastic, and he was willing to stop and let me pop out to take photos a few times. I can't recommend this company enough - I will tour with them again when I return to Amsterdam and enthusiastically recommend them to anyone personally.

Amazing tour Randomly on an internet search I found Lake District tour. I am so glad that happened. We did the one day 5 UNESCO site tour. It was a great way to see the “Lake District area “ of the Netherlands. The day was so enjoyable. Never felt rushed. The guide was knowledgeable, personable, and professional. The scenery was stunning. Lunch was a nice treat. I would highly recommend this tour if you want small group touring.

Great Small Tour This was an amazing small group (there were only 3 of us) day tour! Our guide Ynte provided a lot of fascinating historical information about the areas we visited. We even had a little extra time and explored a beach town. We were able to enter 2 working windmills. All of our guides were friendly and proud to show us their towns. This tour was the highlight of our Amsterdam trip! Can't wait to return and try another one. We appreciated visiting all the non-touristy places - in most situations we were the only ones around.

Immerse Yourself in the Dutch Countryside My daughter and I had the pleasure of the company of Lysanne for the day as we toured through the Lake District of Friesland. The sites we had the pleasure of visiting were thoroughly charming and we were treated to each by a local guide who clearly welcomed visitors. We left the tour with a great appreciation of the history of the area. Lysanne was an engaging and knowledgeable host. Wonderful tour Very enjoyable tour with personable and knowledgeable guides. Although the weather was cold and wet, it did not detract from the interesting sites which were not the usual tourist locations. Van was a comfortable ride through little known parts of the Netherlands. Timing for pickup and drop off were exactly as promised. Highly recommended.

Our guide Lysanne was engaging friendly and knowlegable about the country she loves and lives in. Amazing day tour to fall in love with the real Netherlands. I definitely recommend this tour. I am a Mexican traveler who is always looking for something different than the traditional tourism. I love to immerse into the culture of the country, get to know locals and the way they live, and have a memorable experience instead of just a picture as memory.
One whole day tour getting to know the amazing Lake District of the Netherlands, from the normal houses/farms, the history, and traditions, to how they do its delicious cheese and keep their beautiful canals (They are definitely the masters of water).
Beside the beautiful views and interesting visits, the staff is amazingly friendly and will liven up the road with great conversations, curious details, and answering all your questions. I thank a lot Lysanne, my tour guide, for this great experience.

Understanding and Appreciating the real Netherlands Absolutely awesome, this tour will teach you about the Netherlands and its people by taking you to 5 UNESCO sites and a specially made luncheon at a country farmhouse. It was the highlight of our 3 days in Amsterdam. Our guides were knowlegable, friendly, sense of humor, and allotted enough time so we didnt feel rushed at each place. We came away appreciating and loving the dutch people . We are coming back next year and will take a different tour with this same group. This tour was worth every penny spent.

Highly recommend this company for a memorable day trip experience This relatively new company has done their homework and is providing an excellent tour experience. We are world travelers who have used multiple tour providers in several continents, so we know what an average tour is. This tour was above average. We would definately use their services again and highly recommend this company.

Lysanne was our guide who spoke excellent english and was timely in our departure and return. She had excellent commentary about the sites we visited. Lysanne has a great personality and enjoys her job which made us feel like a new friend was showing us around the beautiful countryside .

We had a wonderful lunch that was homemade with fresh ingredients and that was more than we could eat.

In addition to Lysanne, we had additional guides at three of the sites visited that added to the "VIP" feeling of the tour. We were impressed by how many UNESCO sites we were able to visit in a single day in a manner that was not rushed. We had a truely enjoyable and memorable day.

100% Enjoyed the tour! 100% will recommend this tour. Even though we were out all day, and partially in some rain, it was so pleasant and relaxing thanks to Lysanne the operator of the tour. Awesome Tour of the Lake District and the Five Unesco Sites We enjoyed our comfortable ride outside of the bustling city of Amsterdam to the quiet beautiful countryside of Holland. Ynte and Celine were our guides. Ynte, from Friesland, gave us his personal view of the area and the history of its development. Celine was very informative as well, she made our trip comfortable and fun. We particularly enjoyed the tours by the friendly local people in many of the sites. They were all excellent! Unesco World Heritage VIP Tour A great day out in the northern lakes district of Holland. We saw 5 Unesco sites, all different including historic villages, a defence bunker, 32 km dyke and a 100 year old steam pumping station. Max our friendly guide gave us a fascinating insight to Dutch culture & the Unesco sites. Local guides at the sites were excellent. Don’t miss this trip, it’s the best we’ve done in Holland.

Lisa is such a personable guide. We visited many small villages and points of interest not offered on other tours. I ask a lot of questions and she always had an answer. My wife and I had such a great time with the villagers we met: we fit right in. We chose the option to have lunch included with the tour and Lisa went out of her way to find me a local Dutch treat I had read about. It was so good. Great Tour This was a very good tour to see some of the country outside of Amsterdam with less crowds. Enjoyable in seeing a lot of reclaimed land with farms and typical Dutch farm houses.

The UNESCO World Heritage VIP Tour was a TERRIFIC experience! If you are in Amsterdam this is a wonderful way to see and learn about the Lakes District. Our guide knew the area and the people. We were invited into the home of a friend of our guide to see his private collection of paintings, we learned more about the Netherlands and its people than we ever expected!

What a wonderful day spent alongside with Lysanne in Friesland.

We chose Amsterdam Lake District Tours because the tour seemed different and indeed it was.

After being out of Amsterdam we quickly noticed that it was only us, the locals and the beautiful landscapes. We discovered incredible places, peaceful and vibrating of history. Perfect day, from the impressive dike to the city frozen in time, through local experience with lunch at a farm. If we come back to the Netherlands for sure we want to go back to Friesland.

A day in the Lake District This was a day well spent! We saw a little museum town - we had a lovely lunch - visit a cheese factory - we climbed the windmill t'Lam and drove to the beautiful tulip fields!! What a day!!!

Fantastic Experience This was an amazing trip that we hope to do again. Although we just missed the tulip fields in bloom, the staff ensured we still had a full day of wonderful visits and experiences we will never forget. Our visit to the dike, stops in Friesland villages, a tour of their largest operating steam boiler facility, views of old and new windmills, lunch in Friesland, and informative talks with our guides Lysanne and Celine as we drove in the lake district outside Amsterdam were all fantastic. Everyone we met on this trip were friendly and professional. This was our first trip to the Netherlands and it won't be our last. Friesland boppe Amsterdam is nice, but Friesland is better. We really had a nice time in Friesland. Hindelopen was one of the most beautiful cities I have seen. very romantic. If you want to discover the Netherlands I would definitely recommend this tour. You go off the beaten track and discover wonderful authenti
